This is the best place for sightseeing in Ibaraki

Mito is a city located in the Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan. Known for its rich history and cultural heritage, Mito is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists. In this article, we’ll explore some of the things that make Mito and the Ibaraki Prefecture unique.

Tourism

One of the main attractions in Mito is the Kairaku-en Garden. This beautiful park is one of the three great gardens of Japan and was established in 1842 by the local lord, Tokugawa Nariaki. The garden is famous for its plum blossoms and is particularly popular during the spring season when the blossoms are in full bloom. Visitors can also enjoy the numerous walking trails, ponds, and bridges that are scattered throughout the park.

Another must-see attraction in Mito is the Mito Castle. This historic castle was built in the 17th century and served as the home of the Mito branch of the Tokugawa family. Although the castle was mostly destroyed during World War II, some of the original structures and gates have been restored, including the Otemon Gate and the Sannomaru Shozokan Museum.

Anglerfish Hot Pot

One of the famous Anglerfish Hot Pot is located in the heart of Mito, Ibaragi, Motosugi Ankou Nabe Yamasui is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience traditional Japanese hot pot cuisine.

The restaurant specializes in ankou nabe, a type of hot pot made with anglerfish, a type of deep-sea fish with a mild flavor and firm texture.

When the restaurant opened at 11:00 a.m, there was a huge line of people waiting for their names to be called.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by the friendly staff and the warm, inviting atmosphere.

The walls were adorned with traditional Japanese artwork, and the tables were set with individual hot pots for each diner.

The menu was written in Japanese, but the staff was more than happy to help me navigate it and choose the perfect meal.

I decided to go for the restaurant’s signature dish, the ankou nabe.

The hot pot was served with a variety of fresh vegetables, including mushrooms, tofu, and cabbage, as well as a side of rice and a dipping sauce made with ponzu, a citrus-based sauce. The fish itself was tender and flavorful, and the broth was rich and savory. It was the perfect meal for a chilly evening.

Nato Tentura

In addition to the ankou nabe, the restaurant also offers a variety of other hot pot dishes, as well as a la carte items like sashimi and tempura. The drinks menu includes a variety of sake and shochu, as well as beer and wine.

One thing that sets nkou Nabe Yamasui apart from other hot pot restaurants is their commitment to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

The fish used in the ankou nabe is caught in nearby waters, and the vegetables are sourced from local farmers. This commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in the taste of the food and the overall dining experience.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Ankou Nabe Yamasui. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. If you’re in Mito and looking for an authentic Japanese hot pot experience, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant.
